Magnesium is important for bone formation. It helps the absorption of calcium into the bone and plays a role in activating vitamin D in the kidneys. 

Calcium is a mineral that forms an essential part of bones, teeth, heart, nerves, blood-clotting systems, muscles and other tissue.  Calcium in the bones can be used as a reserve that can be released into the body as needed. The concentration of calcium in the body tends to decline as we age because it is released from the body through sweat, skin cells, and waste. In addition, as women age, absorption of calcium tends to decline due to reduced oestrogen levels.

Optimal calcium and magnesium intake is associated with greater bone density, improved bone crystal formation, and a lower risk of osteoporosis.

Without magnesium, a high intake of calcium can increase the risk of arterial calcification and cardiovascular disease, as well as kidney stones. Anyone who is taking calcium supplements should also take magnesium to ensure their calcium intake is properly metabolized, making this product perfect.
